It is a black and white photo of the Jackson County African American School plaque for grades 1-12. It states:

"This building is recognized as the last African-American educational institution in Jackson County Public Schools. Students in Jackson and Swain Counties attended this school from 1956-1965. Public schools in the area were fully integrated in August 1965 effectively ending segregation in both counties."
