Born in Canton on June 22, 1919, Edward Lewis Thompson was a dedicated member of his community, as his motto in life was to “never stop learning.” He served his community for 57 years as a deacon in the Pleasant Grove Baptist church. This was a man who was more than dedicated to the success of young people and his community. As a member of the Boy Scouts, Civitan and Joy Clubs, a superintendent of the Sunday school congress, and a man who supported missionary’s. He deserves to be commemorated after such a record of service to the community.
