- He was awarded the Most Courageous Athletic Award after surviving a horrific car accident that would end his career when he was a senior
- Was a two-time All-Southern Conference and made the All-Freshmen team
- Carr is well-known for making the very first three-point shot in NCAA basketball history
- According to Steve White, Carr made the three-point shot within the first 7 minutes of the game
- Steve White was the man who wanted to move the game time to 7:00 P.M. instead of the game starting at 7:30 P.M.
- Carr was inducted into the Western Carolina Hall of Fame in 1991
- Was also inducted into the National Basketball Hall of Fame
