Evangelist Lessie Williams
Lessie Green Williams grew up in Ramseur, North Carolina. Even as a child, she dreamed of sharing the Gospel with music and the preached word. Her chance to do so full-time came at age 21 when she took on the role of pastor at the Church of God of Prophecy in Franklin, North Carolina. Williams describes herself as "young, afraid, and inexperienced" at that time. This leap of faith is what propelled Williams into her ministry. Later she went on to pastor the Gibsontown Church of God in Canton, North Carolina. In addition, Williams has been singing the Gospel for the past 40 years. She has produced several CDs including Jesus is Mine, I made it Over, and God Changed Me in Time. Williams writes her own music which has been described as country-western and contemporary, traditional gospel at the same time. She has won several awards and has been given the chance to minister all around the South in person as well as on the radio and television. In 2009, Williams spoke at Methodist conferences in New York and Vermont for programs seeking to help build bridges of race and religion in faith.
